We Live!

lifempowered (formerly known as Riverside Training Centers) has been supporting people experiencing Intellectual and Developmental Diversities (I/DD) in their community since 1974. We have been providing comprehensive (around the clock) support to people in their homes for almost as long!

Just like you, people experiencing I/DD live in a variety of places – from 24-hour group homes, to their own home, with the support they need. From taking care of basics, trips to the doctor, paying bills and balancing checkbooks, to grocery shopping, preparing and storing meals, or joining friends at a club...we are there to help when requested.

At lifempowered, we customize supports to fit whatever level people need. Our residential services fall into two basic categories:

• 24-Hour Comprehensive Residential Supports
  We currently support people in local, safe, comfortable group homes that range in size from three (3) to five (5) people and have trained staff on duty around the clock.

• Supported Living Services and In-Home Support
  We strive to promote independence, therefore, we also support people in their own home or apartment, where we only go in and provide the support they choose, when they choose. For example, we may come in for 4 hours, once a week, to help with meal planning and bill paying – and the rest of the time, the person is able to meet their own needs. As those needs or preferences change, we are there, to adjust with them, to ensure the person is independent and safe.

We are only a phone call away, if something comes up between visits. We believe there is dignity in risk, yet want to ensure that any risk is mitigated by careful planning, support and access to resources.

Only when we have worked ourselves out of a job, because the person is fully engaged in, and supported by their community, can we claim success.
